MOON TWP. — Charges were filed Tuesday night against a man accused of making methamphetamine in a rented room at a Moon Township motel.

Township Police Chief Greg Seamon said Craig Glasser, 38, was charged after police connected him to an incident early Tuesday at the motel.

Officers were called at about 2:30 a.m. to the Super 8 Motel on University Boulevard for a report of a “suspicious smokelike substance” coming from one of the rooms, Seamon said in a press release.

The motel manager told officers he went into the room and found that no one was inside. The fire alarm was going off, and the manager saw smoke, but no fire, police said.

According to Seamon, the Moon Township Fire Department was called in to investigate. Police said firefighters entered with “protective equipment” and verified that no one was inside.

Evidence found in the room indicated “someone may have been trying to manufacture some type of drug,” Seamon said.

The state police Clandestine Lab Response Team was called to help with the investigation.

Seamon said Glasser was arrested on “an outstanding warrant” for failure to appear for a hearing related to a previous drug charge.

He was later charged by the department with operating a methamphetamine lab near a school, risking a catastrophe, depositing chemical waste, possession with intent to deliver, reckless endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of ephedrine and driving with a suspended license.

According to court records, he was taken to the Allegheny County Jail after failing to post a $50,000 bond.
