A man was killed and three other people were injured after a bakkie and two trucks collided in Devon, east of Johannesburg, on Wednesday.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the accident happened on the N17, between the Leandra and Nigel turn-off in Devon, about 60km outside of Secunda.
Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene around 07:30 and found two trucks in the emergency lane, and a bakkie in the right-hand lane.
"Upon closer inspection, the body of a man was found lying trapped in the driver's seat of the bakkie," he said.
"Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead."
Meiring said three other victims were also found on the scene.

"The passenger from the bakkie had sustained moderate injuries, while the drivers of the two trucks had sustained minor injuries," he said.
"The patients were treated for their injuries and were, thereafter, transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment."
Meiring said police were on the scene for further investigations.
