Kamal Nath seeks White Paper on violence during Bharat Bandh

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has written to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanding the release of White Paper on law and order situation of the state, deaths of eight persons during Bharat Bandh in Gwalior-Chambal region.

Nath alleged the violence during the bandh was an outcome of handiwork of BJP’s auxiliary bodies, RSS, Bajranj Dal and police administration. Police administration remained silent and cases were filed against innocent people, claimed Congress state chief. He further claimed that the government was not letting bail of 1000 persons from court.

Nath wrote that Chief Minister should have sensitivity towards the victims but it was a matter of regret that he did not find it proper to meet them despite he being in Gwalior on May 8. Nath said Chief Minister should seek apology from the victims of violence.

Kamal Nath also wrote that administrative machinery and intelligence had prior information about the agitation. Curfew was imposed due to laxity of administration. Had intelligence taken care, violence incidents could have been averted. Nath claimed that a committee of state Congress toured the affected areas and reported that the government and police administration had adopted discriminatory behavior and practiced a policy of suppression towards SCs and STs.  Hence, the state Congress demands Chief Minister to release White Paper on the incident.
