Bengaluru boy enters global Olympiad

BENGALURU: Ramchandra Kishor Apte, a home schooled boy from the city, is one of the four Indian students to represent the country in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2018, to be held in Tsukuba, Japan, in September.

Apte is in Class 11, as per any school standard and studies as per the syllabus provided by Maniram Home School. He takes tuitions in Hindi and piano lessons, but studies science and maths at home.

“I study for five to six hours daily and put in two more hours during Olympiads. I have also participated in the American Mathematical Competition,” he said.

The four students were selected at the IOI training camp held at Chennai Mathematical Institute between April 30 and May 9.
