B. Louise (Boddie) Dawson, 99, of Clinton (Independence Twp.), died Monday morning, May 14, 2018, in the comfort of her home, with her daughter, Felicia, at her side. Born March 28, 1919, in Fort Valley, Ga., she was the last surviving of 11 children born to the late Lonnie and Annie Lee (Taylor) Boddie. A retired registered nurse, she had worked at Sewickley Valley Hospital, U.S. Public Health Services and the Detroit Visiting Nurse Association, retiring from Dixmont State Hospital. She was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. She was a member of Hebron Presbyterian Church and also the Women's Association. She was an alumni of La Roche College, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and was a member of the National League for Nursing, New York, N.Y.; Allegheny County Library Bookworm Club, and the Friedman Hospital Nurses Alumni. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Ret. Emmett C. Dawson, Jr., on August 27, 1995. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Norma Ann Dawson and Frances Dawson Harris, both of Long Beach, Calif., and Felicia E. Dawson-Batcha and her husband Mark Batcha, Houston, Texas. Grandmother of Kimberly Anne Batcha of Houston, Texas, she is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends will be received Tuesday, May 22, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the MOODY FUNERAL HOME, Route 30, Clinton, where her services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at noon, with the Rev. Jane Esterline officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Chartiers Cemetery, Carnegie, with full military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit at 1:30 p.m.
