UK to share plans soon on 2040 ban of combustion-engine cars

LONDON -- The UK will release more details in the weeks ahead on its planned ban of the sale of new gasoline and diesel cars starting in 2040, business minister Greg Clark said.

There is particular uncertainty as to whether hybrids, which have both an electric motor and a combustion engine, will be included or not.

"We are going to publish a strategy paper on this in the weeks ahead," Clark said on Tuesday.

"It is very much designed to be a transition that is industry-led," the minister said.
