Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) on Wednesday said they have arrested a relative and conduit of suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative Faisal Hasan Mirza, in Gujarat.

The suspect identified as 30-year-old Allahrakha Abubakar Mansuri was helping Mirza procure explosives and weapons from abroad to carry out terror strikes in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, according to the police.

A driver by profession, Mansuri was in constant touch with his Dubai-based handler, Farooque Devadiwala — a lieutenant of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Police said Mansuri was arrested from the town of Gandhidham in the Kutch district of Gujarat and produced before a special court on Wednesday. Chief public prosecutor Lata Chheda contended that Mansuri is a relative of Mirza and was tasked with renting space in Mumbai to store explosives and weapons.

The special court remanded Mansuri to police custody till May 25.
