Woman found dead, naked in Konark

A mentally-challenged woman was found dead in a naked state about 100 metres away from the Konark Sun temple in Puri district on Tuesday morning.

The woman was staying near the Rajaram Temple at Konark for the last five years.

Locals spotted her body and informed police about it. Police reached the spot, seized the body for postmortem and started investigation after registering a case in connection with the incident.

While the exact reason behind the woman’s death was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that the woman was raped and murdered in late night.

A liquor bottle was seized by police from the spot.
