BJP sets sights on winning Udupi CMC

After winning the Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now turned its attention to winning the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC).

Presently, the Udupi CMC is being ruled by the Congress, which came to power in Udupi CMC after a gap of 45 years in 2013 elections to the urban local bodies.

Speaking to presspersons at the counting centre here on Tuesday, Raghavendra Kini, BJP leader, said that he had analysed the voting figures of the BJP’s victorious candidate K. Raghupati Bhat and it showed that the people in Udupi city had overwhelmingly voted for the BJP. The elections to the Udupi CMC were expected in September. “We will be forming a strategy to win all 35 wards in Udupi city soon. It will be a Mission 35,” he said.

Yashpal Suvarna, BJP municipal councillor, said that already the Congress party was on the backfoot on administrative matters.
