Amherst County Public Schools had students competed in the National Archery in the Schools (NASP) national tournament in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 10-12.

Amherst Elementary School placed 12th out of 171 elementary schools competing in the bullseye tournament, according to Kristen Cox, a team leader and early childhood special-education teacher at the school. Spyke Hunt, one of its archers, came in fourth place with a personal best score of 287.

Elon Elementary School placed 47th place in the elementary school competition while Amelon Elementary finished 124th and Central Elementary School finished at 161st.

Monelison Middle School finished 38th place out of 255 middle schools in the bullseye competition and Amherst County High School finished 116th place out of 237 high schools.
