Walter Monger, 49, of Prairie Village, formerly Wellington, passed away at his home with his loving dog, Monkey, by his side.

Walter Shearer Monger was born July 29, 1968, the son of Walter and Marla Monger in Wichita. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1986 and received his bachelors from Wichita State University in 1996. Walter previously worked at Boeing and Sprint, but most recently worked as a meat cutter. His passion was riding his Harley and his love for animals and helping at local shelters. Walter had much love for his family and friends and some of his happiest moments were spent on rivers in the Ozarks. His faithful dog, Monkey, was his closest companion and was by his side at his passing.

Walter is survived by his two daughters: Kirsten of Leawood, and Madison of Lawrence, a brother, David Monger and his wife Sumer of Wellington; and a sister, Rebecca Worden and her husband Chris of Kansas City; two nieces Derby Yunker and Dane Monger; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, at the Shelley Family Funeral Home in Wellington. No visitation is scheduled.
