£1.2 million project to lure the Germans & Australians to Lake District

On the project, Cumbria Tourism is functioning closely with the Lake District National Park, to offer business support, workshops and a trade marketing strategy.

 
Comprehensive study has shown that target audiences are keen on ‘immersive’ experiences at outdoor enthusiasts on a trip to the UK.

 
At present, applications are open till May 18th, Friday, for accommodation providers, activity companies and visitor attractions to put themselves forward and get associated.
The successful businesses will contribute to integrated packages in terms of development by the inbound travel trade.

 
Even though, targeting German and Australian visitors, is expected to be new products created will simultaneously be available to other international markets on a longer-term basis.

 
Approximately 50 businesses participated in three workshops earlier this month, at Cumbria Tourism’s Staveley HQ and the FSC Blencathra Centre, to find out more about this exclusive project.

 
Sue Clarke, Cumbria Tourism’s sales and marketing manager, headed the sessions.
To quote, “There are nine national parks involved in total, coming together to tell the story of our landscapes, history and culture in a truly immersive and joined-up way. We want the best of the best to come forward and get involved in this exciting project!”
