Green Protocol to be observed during Ramzanadan

District Collector K. Vasuki has appealed to the public to observe Green Protocol while observing the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the official, various steps were being undertaken in the district to ensure the strict enforcement of Green Protocol. She issued directions to ensure that meals that were meant for breaking fast should be distributed in reusable plates. Mahal committees have also been ordered to ensure its strict maintenance while snacks were being sponsored and distributed by private individuals and organisations. Likewise, Green Protocol must also be observed at Iftar get-together in the district.

The decisions were adopted at a meeting that the District Collector held with the representatives of various Muslim organisations and Jama’aths.

Meanwhile, Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.K. Prasanth also convened a separate meeting with Imams and office-bearers of Jama’aths to chalk out plans to observe green protocol during Ramadan. Each mosques will ensure the adequate availability of steel plates and glasses for the distribution of snacks among devotees. Bubble-top dispensers will also be installed to minimise the use of bottled water.

The Corporation has also expressed its willingness to provide steel plates and glasses to mosques whenever necessary. The Mayor stressed on the need to implement green protocol in all spheres of life.

Health Officer A. Sasikumar and officials of the Suchitwa Mission, Haritha Keralam Mission and the corporation project secretariat were also present at the meeting. (EOM/SBG)
