Dutch Exports Rise

The Dutch share of world exports is on the rise again after a downturn in the crisis years, the national statistics office CBS said on Monday, DutchNews reported. The CBS reported that the Netherlands had a 3.2% share in global exports in 2017. Dutch exports accounted for about 3.5% of the global figures for several years before tumbling to 3% during the economic crisis. The turning point came in 2016 when Dutch exports gained and the value of world exports declined at the same time. In 2017 the value of world trade expanded, as did Dutch exports, the CBS said. The strongest growth of Dutch exports between 2015 and 2017 was in petroleum products to Asia, which accounted for about 25% of the total. There were increases in Dutch exports to the Americas. Despite a decline in exports to Europe, the area takes the lion’s share of Dutch exports of goods. The Netherlands also exports services which includes royalties and licenses.
