A rare Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit 50p coin has sold on eBay for a huge sum online.
These valuable coins have proven incredibly popular with the British public, and yet another bidding war has broken out over one.
The 50p piece features a portrait of Peter Rabbit and was minted in 2016.
Wearing a little blue jacket, the character is pictured in a face-on pose.
The silver proof coin was sold by eBay user “fus.kus” on Saturday.

The coin was sold as one lot along side a 2016 Tales of Jemima Puddleduck 50p coin.
A bidding war broke out over the items, and 19 bids were made on the piece by six bidders over all.
The seller said of the listing: “All with original boxes with certification.
“The cert numbers are clearly visible in the photos.”
The coin has sold for even larger sums in the past.
Another Peter Rabbit 50p coin sold for £5,995.

The Royal Mint’s Beatrix Potter collection was first minted in 2016.
The first collection saw characters Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.
Now characters such as Squirrel Nutkin, Mrs. Tittlemouse, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten have been added to the collection.
Beatrix Potter was a writer from Kensington, London, who died in December 1943.
Her stories and illustrations have proven hugely popular for decades.

The most recent rare 50p Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit coin sold for £585 online.
Sold by eBay user “watsec” in Witney, UK, they write of the coin: “Mint condition. Only taken out of the box a hand full of times.
“Only 15,000 made, the hardest of the beatrix potter coins to get.” [sic]
Another rare £1 sold for £125.99 on eBay recently.
The coin has a scarcity rating of 100 from Change Checker, making it one of the very rarest coins.
