BSF soldier killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Jammu’s Samba sector

NEW DELHI A soldier of the Border Security Force (BSF) was killed on Monday (14.05.2018) night after Pakistan violated ceasefire yet again along the international border in Jammu’s Samba sector.
The killed soldier was identified as constable Devendra Singh.
The incident reportedly took place when Pakistani forces began unprovoked firing from across the LoC in the Samba sector.
“A BSF jawan was injured during ceasefire violation in Samba on IB near Manguchak post of 173 Battalion at around 0120 hrs (1.20am) late Monday night,” said an intelligence official. A senior BSF official said constable Singh was admitted to Military Hospital for bullet injuries but could not survive.
Pakistan has repeatedly violated ceasefire agreement with India, with more than 650 such incidents this year alone – till April. While security forces have suffered losses, civilian casualties also have increased prompting authorities to recently build several bunkers.
On May 10, a 22-year-old civilian was killed in small arms firing by Pakistani forces along the line of control (LoC) in Poonch district.
