NRHM scam case: CBI court issues non-bailable warrant against former UP minister Babu Singh Kushwaha

A today issued a non-bailable warrant against former Kushwaha in connection with the scam case.

ordered the CBI to arrest Kushwaha at the earliest and scheduled the next hearing in the case on May 29, B K Singh said.

The case pertains to alleged irregularities in the supply of 515 "first referral unit" kits and 2,050 "intra-uterine" device kids worth Rs 31.59 crore under the NRHM in 2009-10.

The CBI had earlier charge-sheeted the then family welfare minister, Kushwaha, and then Pradeep Shukla for their alleged involvement in the irregularities.

Shukla and Kushwaha, through their counsel, today moved an application before the court seeking exemption from personal appearance.

The court gave relief to Shukla and issued a non- bailable warrant against Kushwaha as he had been giving a miss to the hearings for long, Singh said.
