Kristen Stewart on Tuesday staged an open rebellion against the Cannes’ Film Festival’s strict red carpet policy by ditching her heels and walking barefoot.

She came, she posed, she kicked off her Christian Louboutin heels and made a political statement at the Cannes Film Festival.

Keeping with her rebellious reputation, Kristen Stewart, who was attending the premiere of Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, at the 71st Cannes Film Festival, marched up the steps to the Palais barefoot to protest against the festival’s high-heels-only rule.

The Twillight star, however, was applauded by the Twitterverse for her act of rebellion.

The 28-year-old has been a vocal critic of the festival’s red carpet policy, which was updated this year to ban selfies.

Last year, during a roundtable conversation at the event, Stewart reportedly said, “Things have to change immediately. It’s just like you simply cannot ask me to do something that you are not asking him [to do]. I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version flats or heels.”
