A new ASTM International standard supports ice detection on small aircraft. The standard is to enhance small aircraft safety by supporting nonessential ice detectors, which help notify a pilot when an aircraft encounters icing conditions. The standard can be useful for ice-detector manufacturers and pilots, ASTM International said.
