The Haryana Police has busted a gang of thieves with the arrest of three of its members today, an official said.
The three accused were produced in the court and taken on one day police remand, he said.
The police recovered a 315 bore country made pistol, 69 live cartridges and an iron rod from them.
"At least 10 cases of robbery have been unearthed with their arrest. The arrested accused are Monu, Betaab and Ankit, all are residents of Panipat," a spokesman of the Haryana Police Department said.
The arrests were made after a police team in Panipat got information that three suspicious persons having illegal arms and were roaming near Bhadar mor on Jatal-Sultana road in Panipat town with an intention to carry out a criminal offence.
"Acting swiftly, the police team arrested all the three accused with illegal arms. On interrogation, they confessed to having committed 10 thefts in the area in the recent past, including stealing 42 mobile phones from a shop located on Jatal road, two motorcycles, batteries of inverter and an e-rickshaw and gas cylinders," he said.
The spokesman said that a case under the provisions of the Arms Act had been registered against the accused at Model Town Police Station, Panipat.
