The 2018 NFL Draft kicked off its 83rd edition with round one Thursday night. Taking place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, home of the Cowboys, this year's draft is both the first held in Texas and inside an NFL stadium.

The first 32 picks have been made and round one of the 2018 NFL Draft is over.
The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock as they have the first pick for round two Friday night. The draft will start up again at 7:00 p.m. ET Friday and CBS News will live blog for all the updates.
The Baltimore Ravens trade up to the 32nd pick, as the Eagles pick up the 52nd, 125th and 2019 2nd-rounder pick.
With the no. 32 pick and the final pick in the first round of the 2018 draft the Baltimore Ravens draft QB Lamar Jackson (Louisville). Jackson is the youngest Heisman Trophy winner of all time, picking up the award at age 19.
With the no. 31 pick in the 2018 draft the New England Patriots select RB Sony Michel (Georgia).
With the no. 30 pick in the 2018 draft the Minnesota Vikings select CB Mike Hughes (UCF).
With the no. 29 pick in the 2018 draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select DT Taven Bryan (Florida).
With the no. 28 pick in the 2018 draft the Pittsburgh Steelers select S Terrell Edmunds (Virginia Tech).
Ryan Shazier, the Steelers LB who suffered a serious spinal injury in December and is still recovering, announced the pick.
Edmunds and his brother Tremaine become the first set of brothers to both be drafted in the first round of the same draft.
With the no. 27 pick in the 2018 draft the Seattle Seahawks select RB Rashaad Penny (San Diego St.).
With the no. 26 pick in the 2018 draft the Atlanta Falcons select WR Calvin Ridley (Alabama).
With the no. 25 pick in the 2018 draft the Baltimore Ravens select TE Hayden Hurst (South Carolina). Hurst signed a professional baseball contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates in2012 but didn't make that work out.
With the no. 24 pick in the 2018 draft the Carolina Panthers select WR D.J. Moore (Maryland). Moore was named the Big-10 WR of the year in 2017, and is the first WR selected so far in this draft.
With the no. 23 pick in the 2018 draft the New England Patriots select OG Isaiah Wynn (Georgia). This is the Patriots' first 1st-round draft pick since 2015.
The Tennessee Titans trade up to the 22nd pick as the Ravens drop back to 25th. Tennessee also picks up the 215th pick as Baltimore gets the 125th pick.
With the 22nd pick, the Tennessee Titans select LB Rashaan Evans (Alabama).
With the no. 21 pick in the 2018 draft the Cincinnati Bengals select C Billy Price (Ohio State).
With the no. 20 pick in the 2018 draft the Detroit Lions select C Frank Ragnow (Arkansas).
The Steelers announce they've traded WR Martavis Bryant to the Raiders for the no. 75 pick in the 2018 draft.

With the no. 19 pick in the 2018 draft the Dallas Cowboys select LB Leighton Vander Esch (Boise State). The 2017 Mountain West defensive player of the year played quarterback and middle linebacker in high school growing up in Idaho. Joining the Dallas Cowboys on stage for their selection were the football captains from Arlington area high schools.
The Green Bay Packers move up to the 18th pick of the draft as the Seattle Seahawks drop back to 27th. Packers also picked up the 248th pick in exchange for the 76th and 186th picks.
Green Bay selects CB Jaire Alexander (Louisville) with the 18th pick of the draft.
With the no. 17 pick in the 2018 draft the Los Angeles Chargers select safety Derwin James from Florida State University. James earned second-team All American and first-team All-ACC honors in 2017 with 84 tackles, two INTs and 11 pass-breakups. The safety initially committed to Florida State as a 14-year-old.
The Buffalo Bills trade up to the no. 16 pick, as the Ravens nab the nos. 22, 65 and 154 picks. With the pick, they selected Tremaine Edmunds, linebacker from Virginia Tech.
Edmunds was a 2017 third-team All-American with 5.5 sacks and 14 TFLs. His father, Ferrell Edmunds, was a two-time Pro Bowler with the Miami Dolphins.
Tremaine Edmunds would get another chance to celebrate when his brother Terrell was taken later in the first round.
With the no. 15 pick in the 2018 draft the Oakland Raiders select OT T. Kolton Miller from UCLA. The redshirt junior spent his time in LA defending now no 10. draft pick Josh Rosen. Miller earned second-team all-Pac 12 honors in 2017.
The Saints trade up to the No. 14 pick, swapping places with the Green Bay Packers who now have the 27th overall pick in the draft. Green Bay also acquires the 147th pick, as well as a 2019 1st-rounder.
New Orleans used the trade to pick Marcus Davenport, DE from University of Texas, San Antonio. Davenport becomes the first ever Roadrunner to be taken in the first round of the NFL draft.
With the no. 13 pick in the 2018 draft the Washington Redskins select defensive tackle Da'Ron Payne from Alabama. The second Crimson Tide player to go this evening, the junior was named second-team All-SEC with 53 tackles, one sack, one INT and three pass-breakups.
With the no. 12 pick in the 2018 draft the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Washington DT Vita Vea. The junior was named second-team All-American and Pac-12 Defensive player of the year.
With the no. 11 pick in the 2018 draft the Miami Dolphins select Minkah Fitzpatrick from Alabama. Fitzpatrick played safety and cornerback for the Crimson Tide.
A 2017 National Champion with the Crimson Tide, the DB has excelled as a slot cornerback and as a safety. Fitzpatrick won the Bednarik Award and Thorpe Award in 2017.
The Oakland Raiders traded their 10th overall pick to the Arizona Cardinals. Oakland now has the 15th overall pick and will also receive no. 79 and no. 152 picks.
With the no. 10 pick in the 2018 draft the Arizona Cardinals select Josh Rosen, quarterback from UCLA. The 4th quarterback taken so far in the draft, Rosen becomes the fourth UCLA play caller drafted in the first round since 1970 and only the second UCLA quarterback in the top ten.
He's also the second Jewish quarterback taken in the first round since Sid Luckman was drafted number two overall in 1939.
In 30 games with UCLA, he completed 711 of 1,169 for 59 TDs with 26 interceptions and a 139.9 QB rating.
Rosen wasn't shy when talking to the media as the newest member of the Arizona Cardinals.
With the no. 9 pick in the 2018 draft the San Francisco 49ers select OT Mike McGlinchey from Notre Dame.
A two-year captain for the Irish, McGlinchey was named to the Maxwell Award, Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award watch lists his senior year. He joins his college teammate Quenton Nelson as the second top-10 Notre Dame OL in this year's draft.
With the no. 8 pick in the 2018 draft the Chicago Bears select Georgia LB Roquan Smith. Smith became the first Bulldog to win the Butkus award as the country's top linebacker.
He had originally committed to UCLA during National Signing day.
The Buffalo Bills trade up to the no. 7 pick, swapping places with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who will now draft at no. 12. The Bucs will also receive two second-round picks, the 53rd and 56th overall.
With the no. 7 pick, the Buffalo Bills select QB Josh Allen out of Wyoming. Allen drew controversy leading up to the draft after offensive tweets of his from high school were leaked; he apologized earlier today.
Prior to this pick, the Bills were the only team to not draft a QB in the top 13 picks since 1970; their earliest QB pick was Jim Kelly at 14th in 1983.
With the no. 6 pick in the 2018 draft the Indianapolis Colts select Notre Dame OG Quenton Nelson.
With the no. 5 pick in the 2018 draft the Denver Broncos selected North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb. The senior was named to the first team All-ACC and first team All-American and will join his brother, Brandon Chubb (Wake Forest) in the NFL.
The announcement was made by 17-year old St. Jude patient "Austin." A big Broncos fan, he's also an aspiring broadcaster.
With the no. 4 pick in the 2018 draft the Cleveland Browns select Ohio State CB Denzel Ward. The junior was named an All-American in 2017 and was in the top-10 in the country for pass breakups.
With the no. 3 pick in the 2018 draft the New York Jets select USC quarterback Sam Darnold. The junior from Southern California was named to the first-team All Pac-12 Team in 2017 despite starting his collegiate career as a redshirt and third in line for the starting spot. Darnold is now the fifth QB on the Jets roster.
With the no. 2 pick in the 2018 draft the New York Giants select Penn State RB Saquon Barkley Penn State. Barkley was the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year in 2016 and set a school record as a freshman with 1,076 total yards.

Roger Goodell used the famous words to announce the first pick of the draft, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield. The senior won the Heisman Trophy, Davey O'Brien Award and Big 12 Championship his last year with the Sooners.
Mayfield is the 11th Heisman Trophy winner to go no. 1 overall since 1970. He sent a picture of him on the phone as he received the call from the Browns. He is also the first former walk-on to be drafted no. 1 since 1967. This is the third straight draft where the Browns have drafted a QB.

Roger Goodell opened the 2018 NFL Draft to boos at the podium in AT&T Stadium. Former Dallas Cowboys and 6-time Pro Bowl quarterback Troy Aikman joined him on stage.

The NFL asked for everyone's attention for a moment of silence. Images of the two Dallas police officers who were fatally shot Tuesday and former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away last week.

7:00 p.m. -- The Cleveland Browns will pick first overall to kick the night off. The Atlanta Falcons have the awkward distinction to choose "Mr Irrelevant" with the 256th and last pick in the 2018 draft Saturday.
This is the second year in a row the Browns have the number one pick. After taking DE Myles Garrett in 2017, Cleveland looks likely to draft a quarterback as a fix to their 17-game losing streak. Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen could be the first QBs taken off the board if Cleveland goes that route.

Baker Mayfield is hopeful at his prospects in tonight's NFL Draft. The former Texas Tech and Oklahoma quarterback took to social media Wednesday ahead of the draft, recreating a picture of Brett Favre taken while the Hall of Fame quarterback was talking by phone during the NFL draft in 1991.
"There are those people who are in your corner no matter what, you can't do any wrong, even when you do wrong. And then there are those people that no matter what you do they're going to dislike you and that's not going to change," he tweeted along with the picture, attributing the quote to Brett Favre.
The internet went crazy with over 141 thousand likes and over 42 thousand retweets. But the best comment of all came from the Green Bay Packers legend, himself.
Mayfield is expected to be selected early on in the first round of the NFL Draft. Most of the mock drafts have him being selected third by the New York Jets, according to CBS Sports analysts.
Every year, analysts try to guess which teams will select which available players. The mock draft speculation is as uncertain as they come. Often, predictions change rampantly, especially as some teams try wheel and deal for a higher pick.
The CBS Sports draft analysts try to answer burning questions like 'who will be picked in the first round?' and 'will a team pick based solely on need or on player value?' The nearer to the start of the NFL Draft, the more the speculation may change.

The NFL Draft is an old tradition dating back 31 years before the the first Super Bowl. The first-ever NFL draft was held 82 years ago at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Philadelphia. There were only nine teams in the league at that time.

Back then, the NFL owners wanted a process to enable weaker teams to have a better chance at landing top college prospect. In the 17th year of the league, the NFL devised the method still used today where the previous year's last-place team earns the first selection.
The Philadelphia Eagles had the first-ever draft pick, selecting Jay Berwanger from the University of Chicago. Berwanger also had the distinction of being the first to receive the "Downtown Athletic Club Trophy," which was later renamed to the Heisman Trophy.
