Jonathan Marchessault scored twice and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 30 shots, lifting the Vegas Golden Knights to a 3-1 series-evening win over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference final.
Kyle Connor scored midway through the third to pull Winnipeg within a goal. Marchessault restored the two-goal lead 1:28 later.
Tomas Tatar scored 6:37 into the game for the Golden Knights.
Connor Hellebuyck had 25 saves for the Jets.
Game 3 is Wednesday in Vegas.
The expansion Golden Knights appeared to be rusty in the series opener and it looked like they were going to pick up where they left off, but Fleury made key saves early and got help from a teammate and a post in the opening minutes to keep the puck out of his net.
Vegas generated offense by making plays without the puck, forcing turnovers to set up goals.
It carried a 2-0 lead into the third after Tatar and Marchessault scored four minutes apart in the first.
The Jets have not lost consecutive games this postseason.
