Thane: Motorists brushed passed Thane’s Anandnagar toll plaza on Monday with a great smile as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were out there protesting against the toll collected by motorists. Scores of NCP party activists led by NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad gathered at Anandnagar toll naka, who had warned not to collect toll till the Mumbra by-pass road repair work was completed.

Since the Mumbra by-pass repair work began, traffic has been diverted from other roads. The diversion has been resulting in more traffic snarls. NCP activists gathered around 9.30 in the morning and started their protest by not letting the toll workers to recover the toll charges.

The guardian minister Eknath Shinde passed by the toll plaza and did not bother to halt, who had in fact blamed the MLA. As a member of the government, he should have waited to listen to the opposition party, claimed the MLA.

Mumbra by-pass is the only link from JNPT to the western part of India.
