Painesville man arraigned on felony theft charge

A Painesville man accused of stealing numerous items totaling between $1,000 and $7,500 from an unidentified victim was arraigned May 15 in Painesville Municipal Court, records there show.

According to a signed affidavit from the Painesville Police Department, 52-year-old Richard Norwood, whose address is 779 N. State St., is accused of depriving the owner of property including two television sets, two DVD players, two television stands and other furniture, other miscellaneous electronics, about $1,000 in miscellaneous jewelry, legal documents and other items without consent.

He’s charged with fourth-degree felony theft and is free on a personal recognizance bond pending a May 29 preliminary hearing, Norwood’s arraignment paperwork states.

If convicted, he could get up to 18 months behind bars.
