Kerala students excel in ICSE, ISC examinations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala clinched almost cent percent victory in ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) exams, the results of which were announced in New Delhi on Monday. Nationally, the pass percentage in Class X and Class XII exams were 98.51% and 96.21% respectively.

As many as 7,692 candidates from 154 schools across the state appeared for Class X exams and the pass percentage was 99.96. Of the 2,927 candidates who appeared for Class XII exams from 62 schools, 99.45% passed.

In ICSE, girls fared better than boys; while girls recorded 99.98%, the same for boys is 99.94%. The trend was no different for ISC. While 99.67% girls cleared the exam, it was 99.22% for boys. ICSE exam was conducted in 61 written subjects of which 22 are Indian languages and 10 foreign languages.

According to special category statistics, all 180 SC candidates, who appeared for ICSE exam, cleared the same this year. Similarly, all 10 ST candidates, who appeared for the exam, passed. SC/ST candidates maintained the winning streak in ISC too. All the 40 SC candidates and two ST candidates cleared ISC exam.

S Aditya Krishna of Kuriakose Elias English Medium School in Kottayam, Lekshmi S Sunil of St Thomas Residential School in Thiruvananthapuram and Arjun Satheesh of Trinity Lyceum in Kollam won the first, second and third positions in Class XII examination in Kerala.

In Class X exam, Sameera S Prakash of St Thomas Residential school in Thiruvananthapuram and Sreelakshmi S Menon of Hari Sri Vidhya Nidhi School in Thrissur shared top honours in state with 98.2% each. Gouri Prasad of Chinmaya Vidyalaya at Kunnumpuram in Thiruvananthapuram came second with 98%.
