ICSE and ISC results 2018: Pass percentage goes up slightly; Lucknow students sweep ISC merit list

Girls performed marginally better than boys in the ICSE or Class 10 and ISC or Class 12 board examinations, results of which were declared by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Monday, as the pass percentage of students went up for both the classes.

In ICSE Board Results, 98.95% girls cleared the exam as compared to 98.15% boys. And in ISC Board Results, girls achieved a pass percentage of 97.61 and 94.96% boys cleared the exam.

The pass percentage of candidates who appeared in the ICSE board exam 2018 was 98.51% and that of ISC students was 96.21. Last year, 98.53% students cleared the ICSE exam and 96.47% candidates passed the ISC board exam.

Out of the four regions where the exams are held, south dominated in both forms of the exams. Candidates from the southern region achieved a pass percentage of 99.69 in ISCE board exam 2018 and 98.38% students cleared ISC board exam 2018.

The southern region was followed by the western region with a pass percentage of 99.67 in ISCE and 97.22 in ISC.

There were 264,267 candidates – 183,387 for ICSE board exam 2018 and 80,880 for ISC board exam 2018 – who appeared in the exams this year.

The ICSE exam was conducted in 61 written subjects of which 22 were Indian languages, 10 foreign languages and one classical language. The ISC exam was held in 48 written subjects of which were 14 Indian languages and five foreign languages and two classical languages.

Toppers

In ICSE board exam 2018, Swayam Das of St Mary’s ICSE School, Navi Mumbai, took the first position with 99.40% marks.

Jasmine Kaur Chahal of St Joseph’s Convent School, Jalandhar, and Anokhi Amit Mehta of Mumbai’s Jamnabai Narsee School, jointly shared the second rank with 99.2%.

Third position was jointly shared by 12 students: Nidhi Nilesh Dhanani and Vishruti Parag Shah of Vibgyor High, Goregaon (W), Mumbai; Sarantha Danielle Correa of Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai; Neel Mulay of Greenwood High, Bengaluru; Vasvi Gupta of Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer; Sarthak Mittal of Smt Lilavatibai Podar High School, Mumbai; Vedika Manish Manek of St Gregorios High School, Mumbai; Abheya Arora of St Joseph’s Convent School, Jalandhar; Swarup Padhi of Kerala Samajam Model School, Jamshedpur; Priya Kumari of Hill Top School, Jamshedpur; Spriha Pandey of The Heritage School, Kolkata and Anuraag Ghosh of The Aryans School, Kolkata.

Seven students jointly secured the first position in ISC board exam 2018 as all of them scored 99.5% marks. Out of these seven, three are from Lucknow.

Those who got first position in Class 12 are: Abhijnan Chakraborty of Smt Lilavatibai Podar High School, Mumbai; Radhika Chandra of City Montessori Inter College, Lucknow; Saman Waheed of CMS, Lucknow; Sakshi Pradyumn of CMS, Lucknow; Lipika Agrwal Lucknow Public School, Lakhimpur Kheri; Koushiki Dasgupta Chaudhuri of St Xavier’s Institution, Panihati and Tansa Kartik Shah of The Cathedral and John Connon School, Mumbai.

The second position in the ISC board exam 2018 was shared by 17 students and four of whom were from Lucknow. They all secured 99.25%.

Twenty-five students, including 11 from Lucknow, jointly shared the third position with 99% marks.
