CMS updated its Drug Spending Dashboards for Medicare Part B and D and Medicaid to include year-over-year price changes for individual drugs.
The agency released the interactive, online tools beginning in 2015 to detail prescription drug spending. The sortable databases list total annual cost, spending per patient and annual cost increases for drugs included in the programs.
The redesigned dashboards report the percentage change in spending on drugs per dosage unit over time, including the annual growth rate from 2012 to 2016, and include an expanded list of drugs.
HHS Secretary Alex Azar announced updates to the dashboards last Friday in a speech that followed President Donald Trump's prescription drug plan announcement (see BioCentury Extra, May 11).
