Bhopal: Political Yatra of former chief minister Digvijay Singh which was to begin from May 15 will take off from May 20, sources claim. According to sources close to Singh, the date has been changed as Congress national president Rahul Gandhi’s was busy in Karnataka elections affairs and hence approval is awaited.
Singh is now waiting for approval from the AICC and the PCC. Congress state president Kamalnath has also not said anything about the Yatra. Singh, during his Narmada Parikrama, had announced that he would launch his Yatra with former MP Rameshwar Nikhra and senior leader Mahesh Joshi from Ramraja’s temple in Orcha.
Singh had also said that he would visit all 230 Assembly constituencies during the Yatra. A section in the Congress party, after Singh’s announcement of Yatra, claims that Singh’s Yatra would lead to loss to the party in the elections. With this, it is also under consideration to term the Yatra as that of Congress and not of Singh. The Yatra would now be led by party leaders at different places.
The BJP had been presenting Singh, who had worked as CM for 10 years, as ‘Bantadhaar’ and it is also getting mileage from it in the elections. Congress, fearing this strategy of BJP, is hesitating in giving approval of the Yatra, led by Singh.
According to Neekhra, the political Yatra may now begin from May 20. He said the Yatra would now be the Yatra of the Congress party and its decision will be taken in a day or two at Delhi. Nyaya Yatra of LoP halts, Scindia launches ‘Parivartan Yatra’ on his own
