sk
Elaborate arrangements have been made for counting of votes for the Karnataka Assembly elections today.
The counting will begin at 8 in the morning at 283 centres in 38 places across the state.
Polling for the 222 of the 224 seats was held on 12th of this month.
Election in Jayanagar Assembly constituency was countermanded following the death of BJP candidate while in Rajarajeswari Nagar Assembly seat it was deferred on account of alleged electoral malpractices.
The fate of over 2,600 candidates will be decided tomorrow. The election was a three-cornered contest between the ruling Congress, the opposition BJP and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda’s JD(S).
Over 16,600 personnel have been deployed at the counting centres.
Meanwhile, re-polling in three booths - one in Lottegollahalli of Hebbal constituency in Bengaluru and two in Kushtagi in Koppal district, ended peacefully.
53 percent voter turnout was recorded in Lottegollahalli and around 78 percent at Kushtagi. Election commission ordered re-election following malfunctioning of EVMs in Hebbal, while voters' names were wrongly listed in Kushtagi.
