Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Leader in the State Assembly, Ajay Kumar Lalu attacked chief minister Yogi Adityanath and the union railway minister for the insensitiveness towards the families who lost their children in a tragic incident at unmanned railway crossing at Duddhi area of Kushinagar on April 26 last. Congress leader claimed that the families were running from pillar to post to get their compensation cheques realised from the banks but so far their efforts went in vein.

``What could be more insensitiveness of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath and the union railway minister that they handed over a relief of cheques of Rs 2 lakh each (Rs 2 lakh by state government and Rs 2 lakh by the railway ministry) to the family members of the victims but so far even passing of more than 20 days, the families failed to get any benefit”, asserted Lalu while alleging that the banks had refused to encash the documents citing various discrepancies. He said the families had already appraised the authorities concerned as well as to the local administration but so far no one came forward to help them out so that they could realised their money. He demanded that the government should immediately intervene and transfer the relief money directly into the accounts of the family members. 

It may be mentioned that 13 children died and around 7 others injured, when the moving train number 5507 passenger hit a school van at Bahpurva railway crossing of Dudhi railway station under Vishnupura police station area in Kushinagar district on April 26 last. CM Yogi Adityanath rushed to the spot and handed over compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the family members of the bereaved. Later Railway also handed over cheques of same amount. However, till now, not a single cheque was honoured by the banks.

Meanwhile Congress workers and leaders also staged a protest on all thesil head-quarters of the district against missgoverance of both Yogi Adityanath and Narendra Modi’s government on Monday. According to general secretary of the UPCC, Vinod Mishra, who is also incharge of the Party affairs here of District Congress, hundred of Party workers ghearoed all the thesil offices in Lucknow including Mohanlalganj, Malihabad, Sorojninagar, Bakshi Ka Talab etc on Monday morning. 

He said that the Party workers protested against rising prices of petrol, vegetables, food products, and all other essential commodities, rising crime against members of fairer sex, prevailing jungle raj and rampant corruption in the State. He said that they handed over a memorandum in this regard to the SDMs to forward it to the President and Governors respectively for necessary action. He claimed that similar protests have been staged across the state on Monday. Mishra said that now the Party workers would soon come on streets and staged a massive demonstration of Modi and Yogi governments failed to address problems faced by the public.
