On Sunday, former NCIS star Pauley Perrette sent some tweets that seem to imply she left the CBS show due to being physically abused on the set. She also alleged a conspiracy to silence her from telling the truth.

"I refused to go low, that's why I've never told publicly what happened," she wrote. "But there are tabloid articles out there that are telling total lies about me. If you believe them? Please leave me alone. You clearly don't know me. (Sorry guys, had to be said)."

The tabloid article she seems to be referring to is a report from gossip site Radar that claims she left the show over a feud with her co-star Mark Harmon over him bringing his dog to set after it bit a crew member.

"Maybe I'm wrong for not 'spilling the beans' Telling the story, THE TRUTH," she continued. "I feel I have to protect my crew, jobs and so many people. But at what cost? I don't know. Just know, I'm trying to do the right thing, but maybe silence isn't the right thing about crime. I'm... Just... ?"

"There is a 'machine' keeping me silent, and feeding FALSE stories about me," she continued. "A very rich, very powerful publicity 'machine.' No morals, no obligation to truth, and I'm just left here, reading the lies, trying to protect my crew. Trying to remain calm. He did it."

Fans Bid Farewell to NCIS' Pauley Perrette with Heartfelt Messages

A few hours after the initial tweets, she added "I've been supporting [anti]-bullying programs forever. But now I KNOW because it was ME! If it's school or work, that you're required to go to? It's horrifying. I left. Multiple Physical Assaults. I REALLY get it now. Stay safe. Nothing is worth your safety. Tell someone."

Last year Perrette wrote about being raped when she was 15, and said that the trauma from that led her into abusive relationships and kept her from speaking up for herself when she was bullied by a "powerful man" in a "work environment." She shared that a few days after she announced she was leaving NCIS.

TV Guide has reached out to CBS and a representative for Perrette for clarification on her tweets.

Perrette previously said she was leaving the show to pursue new career opportunities. Her last episode aired May 8.

Here are Perrette's original tweets:
