Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd (CGCEL) today reported 32.43 percent increase in profit at Rs 103.22 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2018 riding on robust volume growth. The company had posted a profit of Rs 77.94 crore in the same period of previous fiscal, CGCEL said in a BSE filing.

Revenue from operations during the quarter under review stood at Rs 1,126.31 crore. It was at Rs 1,076.09 crore in the year-ago quarter.

The two figures are not comparable as revenue from operations for the quarter ended March 31, 2018, is net of Goods and Service Tax (GST) which was implemented in July last year.

Commenting on the performance, CGCEL Managing Director Shantanu Khosla said in a statement, "Last quarter has been another good one for the company. We have grown our topline and improved profitability in line with the targets we had set out."

This growth has largely been driven by underlying volume growth, the company said.

CGCEL has stepped up focus on building its 'go to market', leveraging internal data systems, analytics and strong distributor partnerships, he added.

"This along with our continuing efforts on consumer centric product innovation will be key to continued share and revenue growth," Khosla said.

For the year 2017-18, profit was at Rs 323.79 crore as against Rs 283.17 crore in the previous year, up 14.34 percent, the company said.

Revenue from operations was at Rs 4,105,12 crore for the year. It was at Rs 4,016.67 crore in the previous fiscal, it added.
