Special team to inspect city roads

A team comprising Minister CP Singh, Municipal Commissioner Shantanu Agrahari, SP (Traffic) Sanjay Ranjan Singh alongwith the engineers will be inspecting all major routes from May 16. In a bid to chalk out ways to make Capital City free from Traffic congestion, Minister Urban Development, Housing and Transportation, CP Singh during a meeting with the senior officials here on Monday decided to conduct physical verification of all main routes that have much vehicles load resulting in traffic snarl during the peak hours.

Taking up a few other issues that primarily governs the factors of traffic management in one of the busiest cities of the State, status of Kantatoli Flyover, closure of a few more cut points, traffic management in left lane, shifting process of vendors were discussed during the meeting. According to the sources, on over 10-15 major points affecting the course of traffic during the rushed hours were elaborately taken up during the meeting.

SP (Traffic), Sanjay Ranjan Singh present on the occasion said that the purpose of the meeting was to devise on the measures that could be adopted to ease the traffic load. “As per the discussion, Minister along with the team involved in managing the traffic including Municipal Corporation’s administrative personnel will inspect the routes from where frequent complaints of traffic jam are reported. In addition, further all such routes will be identified where cut points has to be closed,” said Singh.

The Traffic SP further said that all cut points that were closed in the first phase will be once again checked during the physical verification. “A detailed proposal has to be prepared depicting all major reasons for closing the cut points at the major routes. Officials will be compiling their suggestions over closure or opening the cut points including where to provide vent, flow of traffic at the semi-circular routes etc.”

Furthermore, sharing the details of the steps taken to settle down the displaced vendors in the wake of construction of Kantatoli flyover- the project which involves approximately 2 year tenure, Singh said, “Vendors have been instructed to shift from their respective sites at Kantatoli to Jaipal Singh Stadium. All necessary factors are being considered to ensure that vendors during relocation process do not face any difficulty.”
