Arun Jaitley stable after kidney transplant

Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Arun Jaitley underwent a successful renal transplant surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Monday.

“Both the donor and the recipient are doing well,” noted a release issued by the AIIMS.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Mr. Jaitley before the surgery.

AIIMS sources said the kidney was donated to Mr. Jaitley by a distant relative, a middle-aged woman.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi wished the Finance Minister a speedy recovery.
