BEAVER — Two Aliquippa teenagers will serve time in jail after they pleaded guilty in a 2017 shooting that injured a 65-year-old woman.
According to online court records, Rico R. Rodgers Jr., 18, pleaded guilty May 2 to one count of aggravated assault. He was sentenced to serve between one and two years in jail.
Omar Griffin Jr., 19, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and was sentenced to serve between six and 16 months in jail, records show.
At the time the charges were filed, police said officers were called at about 5 p.m. Oct. 12 to a home in the 1800 block of Main Street in Aliquippa, where they found a 65-year-old woman who was shot in the foot. Witnesses reported three men fled the area in a black car, police said.
According to the report, the witnesses identified Rodgers and reported he fired five or six shots before running down 18th street toward Irwin Street.
Police said Griffin was identified by a separate witness. Both teens were charged Oct. 19.
According to court records, Javen J. Alford, 18, was also charged in the case, but has yet to be taken into custody. Police list him as homeless with an address that is “unidentifiable.”
