GAUSHALA: More than 50 people have been injured in a road mishap at Parikauli Chok of Jaleshwar Municipality along Bhitthamod-Janakpur road section this afternoon.

According to Superintendent of Police at Mahottari District Police Office, Kuber Kadayet, a bus (Ja 1 Kha 701) heading towards Janakpur from Bhitthamod of Mahottari overturned in a ditch along the roadside after the bus driver lost control of the vehicle from over-speeding.

Of the injured, 13 are undergoing treatment at the District Hospital in Jaleshwar and the remaining at Janakpur Zonal Hospital. It has been learnt that seven injured are in critical condition while some of them have returned home post treatment.

The bus was known to be carrying more than 100 passengers. Nepal Army, Nepal Police and locals had carried out rescue operations at the incident site.

Bus driver and assistant to the driver have been absconding after the accident. Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, according to police.
