BJP Mahila Suraksha Yatra from May 17

Women are now feeling unsafe. Atrocities and crimes against girls and women are increasing in the State. Rape of minors is taking place at an alarming rate. Odisha is no longer safe for women. To protest against this, the BJP State Mahila Morcha would conduct a Mahila Suraksha Yatra from May 17 till May 29, said BJP Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida at a press meet here on Monday.

The Mahila Suraksha Yatra would start from seven prominent temples led by party women leaders Pravati Parida, Lekhashree Samantsinghar, Sukeshi Oram, MLA Radharani Panda, former MPs Sangita Singh Deo and, Kumudini Patnaik and former Minister Surama Padhi.

Through the yatra, the women of the State would be sensitised about their rights and safety. Besides, the failures of the State Government would be highlighted during the campaign. During the 11-day yatra period 450 meetings would be held and central women leaders would also be present every day to sensitise the women, said Parida.

Among others, Surama Padhi, Kumudini Pattnaik,  Sukeshi Oram, Pinky Pradhan and actress Maheshwata were present.
