Chahal to prepare for UK post-IPL

After Royal Challengers Bangalore clinched a seemingly comfortable win against Delhi Daredevils here at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Saturday, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal revealed his post-Indian Premier League plans, which shall include honing his skills at the National Cricket Academy during the one-month break before India's tour of United Kingdom.

Consolidating his position as India's leading spinner alongside Kuldeep Yadav during last year's Champions Trophy in June, Chahal has claimed an impressive total of 43 wickets from 23 ODIs and has been responsible for 35 dismissals from 21 T20Is.

Some might say that the 27-year-old lacks the experience of playing in the UK - this being his maiden tour -- but Chahal has already navigated his way through that hint of a doubt.

"Before England, we are going to Ireland. The weather is expected to be the same as in England. I have a month left after IPL. I will go to NCA in Bengaluru for training. There I shall speak with my coach, Hirwani Sir (former India leg-spinner)," Chahal explained before a post-match press conference.

"Hirwani sir has played in the UK earlier. So, I shall ask him about the weather conditions there," he continued. "The India A squad will go on a tour there before us and I have a lot of friends in that team. I shall try and find out from them as to how helpful the pitches are and how the bounce is."

The ace spinner then went on to state how he plans to counter the various strategies the opposition will be greeting him with after having analysed his bowling through videos.

"Just like they have videos of our games, we also have theirs," Chahal stated matter-of-factly.

As for his performance in the IPL, the Haryana-born spin-bowler whose services were procured by RCB during this year's auction looked satisfied.

"I may not be getting wickets in the IPL, but then I am also not giving away high runs," Chahal stated. "That means, this year the batsmen are not attacking me too much even though they have seen me more now," he added.
