WPI inflation rises to four-month high of 3.18% in April

The spike in inflation figures is led by food articles which rose to 0.87 per cent vs -0.29 per cent in March. The food inflation for the month of April also inched upwards at 0.67 per cent vs -0.07 per cent in March.
The wholesale price index climbed upwards to a four-month high of 3.18 per cent for the month of April vs 2.47 per cent registered in March.

The spike in inflation figures is led by food articles which rose to 0.87 per cent vs -0.29 per cent in March. The food inflation for the month of April also inched upwards at 0.67 per cent vs -0.07 per cent in March.

The WPI inflation had slowed to an eight-month low of 2.47 per cent in March on the back of lower prices of food articles.

The core inflation remained unchanged at 3.6 per cent in April.

The February WPI inflation was revised upwards to 2.74 per cent from the earlier figure of 2.48 per cent.
