Milling crowds made merry as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reached out to cricket lovers through its ‘VIVO Fan Park’ broadcasting IPL matches live on giant screens here on Sunday.

With stadium-like ambience in place, the fans went bonkers with every four, six and fall of a wicket during the absorbing contest between the Chennai Super Kings and the top-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The atmosphere at the mini stadium was similar to that of a carnival, as cricket crazy youth showed up with attractive face paintings and rooted for their favourite teams.

“It is a great experience for us,” a group of youth from this entertainment-starved city said while enjoying the game between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. Satisfied with the response, Prakasam District Cricket Association President N.Kiran Kumar said, “our aim is to reach out to each and every cricket fan in Ongole to provide stadium-like excitement.”

After a long wait, Ongole had now got the opportunity to Ranji Trophy matches. Fans hoped that the place would get to host IPL matches too.

A few of them went home with prizes such as jerseys, caps, t-shirts embossed with the pictures of their favourite players and smart phones from VIVO.

Toddlers had fun at the trampoline court when their parents were enjoying the best of cricketing action.
