KANPUR: A 65-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide at
Narahat town in
Lalitpur district on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as
Khuman Kushwaha, was a native of Narahat town.
Reports said he was depressed and hanged himself from a tree in his field.
"As per his son,
Ram Niwas was in depression after the district chakbandi department allegedly made measurement error of his land. To get it rectified, he was running from pillar to post but in vain," said Narahat police.
The police said the post-mortem report was awaited and that the authenticity of the allegation levelled by his family members would be investigated.
