Popular South star Kalasala Babu passed away last night at the Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital following a cerebral haemorrhage. At the age of 68, Kalasala Babu breathed his last at a hospital where he was undergoing treatment for a heart ailment for three months.
Kalasala began his career with theatre and then moved to TV before getting a break in films. Son of Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair and Mohiniyattam dancer Kalyanikutty Amma, the actor made his debut in Malayalam films with Inayethedi in 1977 by John Paul. However, the actor was widely known for his negative characters where his put a realistic touch to his portrayals and made his films alive.
In hisĀ filmiĀ career, Kalasala Babu did over 50 films which include Runway with Dileep, Balettan with Mohanlal, Pokkiriraja with Mammootty and Prithviraj and Thuruppu Gulan with Mammootty. The actor is survived by wife Lalitha and two children.
