A couple was killed today when their motorcycle fell into a river on the Chamiyala-Ghansali motor road in the Bhilangana area of Tehri district, an official said.
Dinesh Singh (32) and his wife Babita Devi (27) were returning from a bank after withdrawing money when their vehicle collided with a mini bus coming from the opposite direction, Ghansali SDM Fincharam Chauhan said.
The motorcycle rolled down about 200 metres into the Bal Ganga river flowing underneath, killing the couple on the spot, he said.
With the help of locals, police recovered the body of the man but his wife's body has not been sighted yet, Chauhan added.
