A Cape Coral man told police his roommate stabbed him in the back, but they noted he waited and partied with the man for hours before reporting it.
Police arrested Clark A. Pierce, 29, of St. Petersburg, early Sunday, accused of aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.
The caller and Pierce told varying tales according to the arrest affidavit: Pierce claimed he fought the caller off during an attempted rape; and the caller told them it was an argument about drugs, and then loud music.
The man who reported the incident told police that after hanging out at home Saturday, he went to bed. Pierce kicked his bedroom door open and then stabbed him. The caller said he took the knife from Pierce and returned to bed. At 3 a.m. Sunday, the caller awoke to loud rap music.
When the caller asked him to turn it down, he said Pierce attacked him and his car before running off.
The affidavit written by the arresting officer indicated the caller changed his story several times, and the argument may have started "over $10 to go and get some Molly", also known as ecstasy.
The officer noted that the pair continued to party through the night, with them drinking beer and making breakfast.
The officer confirmed he saw a hole in the caller's shirt and dried blood and bruising on his back. However, the differing accounts had the caller getting stabbed in a bedroom, the kitchen and a doorway leading from the kitchen to a bedroom.
While the caller talked to officers, Pierce returned to the Southwest Pine Island Road residence.
Pierce also had a warrant for his arrest out of Pinellas County, the affidavit states.
Police did not recover a weapon.
Pierce remained in jail Monday afternoon on $4,013 bond. He is next due in court June 11.
