The Dublin Police Department's week is off to a busy start, with officers responding to two notable incidents within a few hours Monday, May 14.
Police responded to Zachary Court at 2:56 a.m. on a report of a woman with critical injuries, according to an email from Dublin public-information officer Cameron Keir.
Investigators say Colleen Dixon, 64, was riding her bicycle along Zachary Court near Martin Road and Riverside Drive when she lost control and sustained life-threatening injuries, according to a later news release from Keir.
Dixon was pronounced dead on the scene by Washington Township Fire personnel. Martin Road was closed early Monday morning for the initial investigation, but has since reopened, the release said.
Dublin police said Dixon was not wearing a bicycle helmet.
At this point, investigators do not believe other vehicles were involved in this accident, the release said. Other circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation, it said.
Then in the early afternoon, police responded to a call of a possible security issue at Dublin Methodist Hospital, 7500 Hospital Drive.
Police determined there was no threat to the public after reports of an active shooter there.
Although police determined that initial call to be a miscommunication, Dublin police and officers from surrounding agencies searched the hospital, according to a news release from the department.
Police found no danger to the public, and the hospital is open and operating, according to the release.
