ANPIC website, OTIA logo launched in city

The Artist Network Promoting Indian Culture (ANPIC), an organisation for the promotion of Indian art, craft and culture, was inaugurated here on Sunday by Puri MP Pinaki Misra in the presence of Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Naryan Jena, Nalco CMD Dr TK Chand, art historian Johny ML and artist Rajendra Patil.

The guests also launched a website and a logo of the Odisha Triennial of International Art (OTIA).

ANPIC managing trustee Sashanka Mohapatra spoke about the vision and mission of the organisation. He said in the next two months, an art gallery-cum-artist residence centre would be established for the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

And in winter this year, OTIA would be held at Konark, Puri and Bhubaneswar in which well-known art historian Johny ML and artist Rajendra Patil would be curators and artist Kshitish Das would be the chief coordinator of the programmes, he added.

Mohapatra said the OTIA would facilitate fostering of partnership of local artists with their global counterparts.

MP Misra hoped that as the organisation would forge ahead as it is being backed by the Nalco, whose CMD Chand’s passion, vision and technological excellence are in sync with Odia culture.

He expressed his happiness as the OTIA under the aegis of ANPIC is looking forward to being a holistic body encapsulated under an art and culture umbrella.

Mentioning that art, literature and culture are the time castle which needs to be supported and promoted further, Dr Chand said the endeavour of ANPIC is one step towards it. He assured all support needed by the organisation from the Nalco.

On the occasion, four noted personalities, artist Dr Durga Prasad Das, wood sculptor Banambar Nayak, sculptor Pratap Jena and designer Choudhery Joshna Das, were felicitated for their contributions in the field of art and culture.
