Dunzo to diversify into bike sharing in coming monthsAfter running errands like fetching passports for their customers or watering their plants, hyperlocal concierge and delivery player Dunzo is now looking to diversify its offerings.

The Bengaluru-headquartered company is looking to foray into bike-sharing services in the coming months to optimise its already existing fleet of bikers.

“We’re looking to launch this (bike-sharing) within the next few months, and will work just like the current Dunzo app - except instead of scheduling a pick up and drop off an item, Dunzo partners will transport you to your destination,” said Kabeer Biswas, co-founder of Dunzo, which recently garnered the attention of Google.

The global search giant infused $12 million in the company, making it the company’s first direct investment in an Indian startup.

The bike-sharing services sector is currently populated with players like UberMoto, Ola, Rapido and Chinese bike sharing service Ofo, which recently launched its services in Coimbatore and Pune.

“Over the past few years, we’re seeing more and more governments adopt regulations enabling bike sharing. We look forward to working with the government to enable bike sharing at a mass scale,” added Biswas.
