IPL betting racket in R’kela; 3 held

Police arrested three persons here for allegedly betting on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches.

A special team of police conducted a raid in the Narla area on Saturday and seized cash of Rs 10 lakh along with three laptops, 33 mobile phones and electronic gadgets used for betting from the spot.

The accused were identified as Musad Alam, Md Parvez and Uttam Shah. However, nine others in the racket managed to flee from the spot during the raid.

Earlier, police had busted an IPL betting racket on April 29 in Sambalpur and arrested six persons.

Police sources said that a particular gang is linked in betting operations across the State.
