Storm causes hazardous road conditions

STAUNTON — The Staunton Police Department is advising that road conditions following a severe thunderstorm are hazardous. 

Road conditions in the city are extremely poor due to weather, a statement said. 

Many streets are blocked by fallen trees, downed power lines or flooding. Traffic signals are also out due to multiple power outages.

As a reminder, if you approach an intersection without functioning traffic lights, come to a complete stop and only proceed when the way is clear, the statement said. 

Dominion Power is showing 368 homes in Staunton without power. The Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative is reporting closer to 500 outages in and around Staunton.
