Khumalo: I wouldn’t say no to Chiefs

2018-05-14 08:19

Cape Town - Baroka interim head coach Doctor Khumalo says his door will always be open for a return to Kaizer Chiefs.

Khumalo joined Bakgaka at the start of the season as technical director, but was recently appointed caretaker coach in bid to help the club avoid the relegation play-offs, which they have done finishing the season in 14th position.

The legendary midfielder, who had a long career as a player at Chiefs and has also held different position at the club since retiring, admitted that he would always be available to serve Amakhosi if they came calling for his services.

Amakhosi are set to go through a major overhaul following a trophyless season that led to the club parting ways with coach Steve Komphela in April.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder, who has been in charge of Baroka in their last three Premiership games, stated that his heart will always be at Naturena, but they will have to go through the right channels to get him back from Bakgaka.

Khumalo told SuperSport: "At the end of the day, these are the people who paid my way, they made me who I am today.

"I still remain Kaizer Chiefs and respect the chairman, the supporters and players, the whole family.

"If they really need my services, I would not say no to them because at the end of the day, I would not be who I am. They gave me the platform to showcase my talent and I would really, really answer the call and take proper major steps in order for me to hear what they have to say.

"But not disrespecting the chairman who currently gave me the opportunity to show what I’m made of. So, I think it’s either both chairmen talk and Doc will go where the door will be opened."
